Growga Teacher Training
Do you ever wake up at 2 a.m. worrying that today’s kids are:
Losing important social and emotional skills?
Not given enough time to just be kids?
Do you frantically Google the solutions in your “spare time” (ha)? Do you bookmark a dozen of those “5 Magical Mindful Memorable Yoga Poses for Kids” blog posts, but when you try them with real life human children, they don’t go as planned? Do you secretly wonder if your best late-night intentions might not make a real impact on the next generation?
Then the Growga teacher training program was created for you. It’s filled with all our best strategies for helping you make yoga and mindfulness safe, engaging, and empowering for kids. Our hybrid online / in-person training model respects your time, while giving you plenty of ours. You’ll learn the anatomy that you need without the Latin terms you don’t, and you’ll study a Growga lesson structure that’s been field-tested and kid-approved. You’ll know exactly how and why these practices really work.
In other words, you’ll become the expert you wish you had at 2 a.m.
And at Growga, our training is just the beginning. Most teacher trainings finish with “goodbye and good luck,” but at the end of four weeks with us, you’ll be eligible to join our Growga teaching team. You’ll be connected to dozens of other Growga teachers who are on the ground every week with those real life human children we referenced earlier. These are teachers who’ve been there and done that, who know what works and what doesn’t, and who can help with all your newbie teacher questions. And instead of worrying about knocking on doors to get your new knowledge out into the world, Growga can place you with community partners who are ready and waiting for you to share yoga and mindfulness with their kids.
The Growga teacher training includes:
4 weeks of online content
The training runs November 11th - December 8th, with access to the course materials for one year following completion of the course.
A full day of practice teaching
In-person practice days are available in Raleigh/Durham and additional teaching locations with 8 or more enrollees on December 7th, December 8th, December 14th, or December 15th. Virtual practice teaching will be available for all other locations. More information about signing up will be available after course enrollment closes.
Group video calls during the course for all your burning questions
Eligibility to join the Growga team and teach with our community partners (placements currently available in Triad and Triangle, NC areas; Wilmington, NC; and Charleston, SC)
Cost: $275. Payment plans are available!
If accepted, you’ll be sent a link to enroll. Applications close November 1st and won’t reopen until spring 2020.
To be considered for a scholarship, apply here by October 25th.
Is there anything I need to have / do / be before I enroll?
We have a strong preference for real life human adults. Some previous experience with yoga and/or mindfulness and kids and/or teens will give you some helpful context for our content.
Does Yoga Alliance approve of you?
We’re a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider. If you’re already a 200-hour certified yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance you can get Continuing Education Contact Hours for our in-person practice teaching day. You can get Continuing Education Non-Contact Hours for our online content. This course won’t make you eligible for your 95-hour RCYT certification, but successful completion means you’ll be Growga-certified and eligible to teach with our partners.
What if I don’t live in one of the places where you have in-person practice teaching or placements?
There will be a virtual option if it’s not logistically feasible for us to travel to you or for you to travel to us for practice teaching. We’re not currently able to provide placement for people in communities outside of those listed above, but email us at email@example.com and we can start a conversation about bringing Growga to your area.
What’s your refund policy?
If you cancel (in writing) up to 1 week prior to the start of the training you will receive a full refund. If you decide the training isn’t right for you during the first week (November 11th through November 17th), you’ll receive a 50% partial refund. If you decide you need more time to successfully complete the training you can transfer to a future training for a $50 administrative fee.
I have a question you didn’t answer. Who can I talk to?
Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or email our Director of Training directly at email@example.com.
