About Sam

Samantha has been teaching art and art history for the past 9 years. After beginning a career as an Art Historian and teaching college students for several years, she discovered her desire to find a way to bridge her love of teaching with her own passion for making art.

She began working with Arts for Life at Brenner’s Children’s Hospital as a teaching volunteer, creating art with children on the Hematology and Oncology Unit, as well as the Behavioral Health Unit.

Samantha is now a graduate student in Expressive Arts Therapy and Mental Health Counseling at Lesley University focusing on the capacity of the arts to foster growth and healing among children.

As someone with a longtime personal yoga and meditation practice, Samantha loves incorporating mindfulness in her art-making process and believes that art and expression themselves can be inherently healing.
